Membership only costs $24/year (or $2 per month beginning in May) which goes towards advertising our activities, printing newsletters, and renting rooms and pavilions for our Potluck dinners.

We hope you will enjoy being a part of our organization of people who have come together to share experiences related primarily to their status as unmarried, single people.

As you start to attend our events, you will meet many interesting individuals who come from all different walks of life. Hopefully you will find yourself making friends as we all have. Although our group is not promoted as a dating service, we have had people meet who have created long lasting relationships up to and including marriage.

Our monthly events are put together in advance in order to help members plan for what they want to do. We encourage members to host events that are of interest to them, which helps to create a variety of options each month.

You can host an event on your own or co-host with another member. We also like to extend invitations to other area singles groups. This allows us to meet new people and share in other group events. Instructions on how to host an event is included in this packet.

Benefits of being a member:

• You will receive a monthly calendar of events online via e-mail. If you do not have access to a computer you will receive one in the postal mail.
• You have exclusive access to the Ithaca Singles Yahoo listserv, which lists impromptu events through members’ emails. Only members have access to the listserv to ensure privacy for group members.
• As a member you are exclusively welcome to all members and guests only events which include private parties at members’ houses
• We offer discount rates for movie tickets ($6) for our monthly movie night
• Your cost of membership cost is only $24 per year
• As of May 2007 all dues will be paid by members in May, except new members who will pay when they become a member and then pay thereafter every May.

How to become a listserv member:

You can become a listserv member as soon as you have paid your annual dues. Just contact the listserv moderator. The current listserv moderator is Jon Humphrey at jhumphr2@twcny.rr.com .

Just email the moderator and request to join. The moderator will send you a formal invitation via the internet which you just need to reply to. That’s all it takes! All messages you send to the listserv should be emailed to: Ithacasingles@yahoogroups.com

How to host an event:

• Hosting an event can be lots of fun. It involves a small amount of work. You can host by yourself or with another member.
• Simply select an event you would like to host. Then make arrangements, such as making reservations for a Wednesday night dinner.
• Email or call the calendar editor (currently  Pennie,  pjsmall1@yahoo.com) to provide information so it gets on the calendar for the coming month. Please get your events to the calendar editor by the 12^th of the preceding month. If you want to host an impromptu event, you can post it on the listserv at Ithacasingles@yahoogroups.com . Keep in mind the listserv announcements will only go to those who have computer access. You may want to call those who don’t have access to a computer on the internet that might be interested in joining in the fun.

How to become more involved with the group:

Coming to a Wednesday night dinner is a great way to informally meet members in a casual setting. The Wednesday night dinners are held almost every week in Ithaca or the surrounding communities. The dinners are listed in the current month’s calendar and also emailed to the members weekly via the Yahoo listserv bearing the IthacaSingles(not Ithaca_Singles!!) designation.

The summer potluck picnics at Ithaca's Stewart Park are another great way to meet people.  Steward Park is at the south end of Cayuga Lake, just off the Route 13 at the Stewart Park exit. Refer to the monthly ISG newsletter for current month’s location and time. Look for The Ithaca Singles Group sign which is usually posted at these events.

Movie nights are sponsored once a month, usually on Tuesday. Presently Sue M.  is our "movie gal".  We often meet before the movie in the Pyramid Mall Café Center for dinner. See the current ISG monthly newsletter for date and time.

Eventually you might want to become more involved by becoming an officer of the Ithaca Singles Group. Just ask one of our current officers for more details. The officers and their email addresses are listed on the last page of the monthly ISG newsletter. We meet once a month to organize coming events and discuss new proposals.

By joining you can attend member/guest-only events, and you will receive a monthly newsletter containing our monthly events calendar.   You will also gain access to our Listserver, which is the best way to keep up on our many events.
